CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY

The goal of UDLAP´s program of Cultural Anthropology is to teach you diverse life and cultural aspects in different societies. Thanks to our program, you will manage the theoretical and practical knowledge of this discipline in order to be successful in the field, as well as to conduct your own research.  As a professional in Cultural Anthropology you may work in research centers, social development organizations and galleries, among many other options, standing out as an expert able to identify structural and behavior principles that are fundamental in of all human communities.

 

UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE OBJECTIVES

As a professional in Cultural Anthropology, you will learn different approaches to this science, such as: gender anthropology, legal anthropology, applied anthropology, political ecology, urban anthropology and medical anthropology, among others.  Additionally, you will be able to identify historic and current processes that help in researching the causes of the human condition.

Specific Objective

Upon completion of your career, as well as expanding your initial aptitudes, Cultural Anthropology will:

  • Provide you with a holistic and interdisciplinary basis in the area of anthropology.

  • Foster your ability in the adequate and professional use of knowledge pertaining to your discipline.

  • Prepare you for a successful entrance in the labor market.

  • Encourage you to use electronic media to obtain and process data.

  • Increase your capacity to analyze your cultural environment as you get to know others.

  • Train you so you can open new applications and fields of action in Cultural Anthropology.

GRADUATE PROFILE

At the end of your studies, having acquired new knowledge and expanded your abilities, you will have:

  • Proficiency to analyze quantitative and qualitative data collected through cultural anthropology research.

  • Ability to identify historical and modern processes which allow you to investigate the reasons for the human condition.

  • Knowledge of your own language, as well as written and oral comprehension of a second language, in order to increase your access to updated information and thus transmit your research in anthropological publications.

  • Practical experience in multidisciplinary teams, as well as theoretical preparation to generate scientific knowledge.

  • Ability to transmit anthropological knowledge to different audiences.
